Box Score 2 ANDERSON, S.C. - The Pfeiffer softball team (10-8) suffered two heartbreaking losses at Anderson (13-3) on Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, Anderson's Rachel Barefield hit a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie and gave the Trojans a 3-2 victory. Pfeiffer took the early advantage when Vada Blue Sherrill drove in her sister Bailey Sherrill with an RBI ground out in the top of the 2nd. In the bottom half of the inning, Madison Bivens evened the contest with a solo homer. The game would remain even until the top of the 8th inning when Kiana Millsaps drove home Vada with an RBI base hit. However, Barefield came up with a runner on and no one out and deposited Kennedy Lester's pitch over the left center field fence to give the Trojans the win.
Pfeiffer dropped game two in nine innings despite allowing just three hits. A two run homer from Vada Sherrill gave the Falcons a 2-0 advantage but the Trojans would answer with a two run bomb in the bottom of the sixth. After escaping a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth, Pfeiffer allowed a run to score on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the 9th for the Trojans second walkoff win of the day.
The Falcons look to erase these two games when they return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Catawba for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
