Box Score Pfeiffer Baseball Overwhelms Piedmont International, 13-4
Mocksville, N.C. (April 11, 2019) –The Pfeiffer University baseball team had eight different players drive in runs as the Falcons overwhelmed Piedmont International University 13-4 at Rich Park in Mocksville, N.C. on Thursday night.
Pfeiffer got five runs in the second inning with the first run scoring on an error. Zach Ferrell then delivered a RBI single to put the Falcons up 2-0. Kyler Fairchild made it 3-0 with a RBI single down the left field line followed by a Bryce Marsh RBI single to push the lead to 4-0. Kirby Lambert then doubled, making it 5-0.
The Falcon lead ballooned to 7-1 when Eli Blake lifted a two-run shot to center field in the third and then went to 11-3 in the fifth after scoring on a wild pitch, two bases loaded walks and a bases loaded hit batsman.
Pfeiffer went up 13-3 in the eighth inning when Noah Handy hit a two-RBI single down through the right side of the Bruin infield.
PIU did score a run in the bottom of the eighth, but was retired in order by Falcon reliever Josh Topper in the ninth, as he forced a pop-up and struck out the final two Bruin batters to secure the win.
