William Peace Downs Pfeiffer Men's Soccer in Wild 5-4 USA South Match
Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team rallied from being down 3-1 to take a 4-3 lead in the second half but visiting William Peace mounted a late rally to take a 5-4 USA South win at Lefko Field on Wednesday night.

William Peace jumped ahead 1-0 in the 20
th minute when Ivan Ponce scored his ninth goal of the season on a pass from Jorge Aguilar. Pfeiffer struck back to tie it at 1-1 in the 32
nd minute when
Nico Soriano (Concord, N.C.) found
Caleb Livengood (Thomasville, N.C.) in the box, with Livengood making true on his header for his third goal of the season.
WPU scored in the 40
th minute on a Bloody Samloulus unassisted goal carrying the Pacers into halftime leading 2-1.
The Pacers then made it 3-1 in the 58
th minute on a Danny Alvarez penalty kick.
Pfeiffer trimmed the lead to 3-2 when
Jean Bah (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Caleb Bratager teamed for a goal in the 61
st minute. Bah beat his defender and slid a pass to Bratager on the left side of the box. Bratager then finished past the WPU goalkeeper for his fourth score of the season.
Less than four minutes later, Bah earned his second assist of the night when Soriano took the feed and pushed it into the goal, tying the match at 3-3 at the 64:11 mark.
Pfeiffer then earned a penalty kick at 71:00, and sophomore
Sam Stewart (Belhaven, N.C.) scored to the left of the goalkeeper to put Pfeiffer up 4-3.
An own goal in the 74
th minute knotted the match at 4-4 and William Peace scored the eventual game-winner at 78:21 when Archie Filliter supplied an assist to a goal by Rush Campbell.
Pfeiffer would not be able to get any quality looks in the waning minutes, falling by the eventual 5-4 score.

Pfeiffer will host rival Greensboro College in the final home match of the 2021 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
