Box Score Pfeiffer Volleyball Closes Season With Loss to Averett in USA South Tournament

Buena Vista, Va. (Nov. 2, 2021) – Fifth-seeded Pfeiffer University dropped a 3-0 decision to fourth-seeded Averett University in the opening round of the USA South Volleyball Tournament on the campus of Southern Virginia University on Tuesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Averett limited Pfeiffer to a -.200 hitting percentage in the first set while forcing the Falcons into 10 errors en route to a 25-13 win.

Pfeiffer fared better in the second set, but Averett outlasted the Falcons 25-21 to take the 2-0 lead.  The Cougars then went on to a 25-19 win in set three to take the 3-0 win.

Pfeiffer freshman Anya Parker (Fort Mill, S.C.) had a team-high seven kills while junior Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) had six.

Freshman Kylee Mayberry (Harmony, N.C.) led the way with 20 assists and also had a team-best nine digs.

Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) finished her Falcon career with eight digs.

Season Finish
Pfeiffer completed the season at 19-13 overall, the highest win total since the 2009 season, when Pfeiffer won 21 matches.  All told, the 19 wins is the third-highest win total for Pfeiffer over the past 19 seasons.
