Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Opens With 21-2 Rout of Centenary (La.)
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2021) – The Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team opened the 2021 season with a convincing 21-2 rout of visiting Centenary (La.) on a cold and dreary day at Lefko Field on Saturday afternoon.
Playing in a near-constant downpour and deteriorating field conditions, the Falcons scored the first 13 goals of the game, with senior Jared Nelson (Vestal, N.Y.) starting it off with a goal less than a minute into the game. Quinn Becraft (Huntersville, N.C.) scored six first half goals for the Falcons, his first coming at the 12:54 mark. Transfer Corey Choberka (Vestal, N.Y.) scored his first goal wearing the Black and Yellow at 13:11 while John Allen (Lebanon, Ohio) got into the scoring column at 10:53 of the second quarter to make it 8-0. Leading 13-0, Centenary got on the board with a man-up goal from Jacob Miller with 1:36 before halftime.
Pfeiffer added another goal, this one from Brayden Sokolowski (Waldorf, Md.) to provide the 14-1 halftime margin.
The Falcons added four more goals in the third quarter to go up 18-1, with Becraft scoring two and Allen and Nelson adding another goal.
Nu Kwan Fair (Charlotte, N.C.) scored to begin the fourth quarter while Chris Alcorn (Raleigh, N.C.) and Jacob Leone (Raleigh, N.C.) provided the final two goals for the Falcons. Centenary's Jordan Cook capped the scoring at 3:09 with a score, providing the eventual 21-2 final
Individually, Becraft had eight goals and an assist while Nelson tallied eight assists and a pair of scores. Allen had three goals and an assist on the afternoon. All told, 10 Falcons scored on the afternoon.
Pfeiffer dominated the offensive side, peppering Centenary goalkeeper Frederick Siskkron with 57 shots while the Gents managed just 15 shots on the Falcons goalkeepers.
Four Falcons saw action in goal with Matt Stocks (Endwell, N.Y.) earning the win. Stocks finished with one save while Tom Romanik (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and James Verdier, III (Charlotte, N.C.) each making a pair of saves. Jason Rowland (Waldorf, Md.) finished the game in goal, making one save.
Pfeiffer (1-0) will return to play on Friday, Feb. 19 when they play host to Birmingham Southern. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
