Box Score Craig Sabb Scores 1,000th Point in Pfeiffer's 99-71 Win Over William Peace
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 19, 2021) – Senior guard Craig Sabb became the 36th player to score 1,000 career points late in the second half of Pfeiffer's 99-71 USA South win over visiting William Peace University on Friday afternoon in Merner Gym.
Sabb, from Goose Creek, S.C., was eight points shy of the career milestone entering the game, scored on a layup with 3:23 in the second half to achieve the historic feat.
By that time, the Falcons (4-2, 4-2 USA South) had the game in hand, as a big second half paved the way to the 28-point league win.
After leading 48-40 at halftime and battling a pesky Pacer defense, the Falcons poured it on the in second half, essentially putting the game away by using a 18-7 run to lead 66-47 at the 13:44 mark.
WPU would not be able to trim the lead to any less than 12 points the rest of the way. Pfeiffer enjoyed their biggest lead of the game at the 2:14 mark when they were up 84-54.
Individually for Pfeiffer, Jerome Savoy (Waldorf, Md.) led all scorers with 18n points. Savoy was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, including 2-of-2 from long range. He also was 8-of-10 from the free throw line and had three rebounds a pair of steals and one assists.
Teammate Jamaal David (Clinton, Md.) also had a great outing, finishing with 17 points while hitting three from long-range. Freshman Dorian Miles (Greenville, S.C.) registered another double-double, this time going for 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Brady Dudley (Walnut Cove, N.C.) also had a career-night, hitting three from beyond the arc while putting up nine points.
WPU (2-9, 1-8 USA South) got a team-best 13 points from Cole Atwood while Donolly Tyrell, Jr and Ti'Quan Whitmore each had 11 in the loss.
Pfeiffer will make the return trip to Raleigh on Sunday, Feb. 21, taking on the Pacers at the Hermann Center at 1:00 p.m.
