Box Score 2 Pfeiffer Volleyball Wins Two Matches Over Mary Baldwin
Misenheimer, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team opened the spring 2021 season with a pair of wins over visiting Mary Baldwin University in Merner Gym. The first match was a USA South East Division match while the second was a nonconference match.

Match One
Pfeiffer got 11 kills from junior Alonna Clouse (Hickory Ridge, N.C.) and 10 from sophomore Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) en route to a 3-1 USA South win over MBU. Clouse hit .276 in the match while Burris managed a .364 hitting percentage. Burris also had five aces while Clouse had a team-best 26 digs. Fellow senior Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had 23 digs on the night while playing libero.
Freshman Jessica Leshko (Apex, N.C.) dished 20 assists in her collegiate debut while sophomore Kira Suttles (Morganton, N.C.) had 19.
Match Two
In match two, the teams battled to five sets, with the Falcons claiming the deciding set 15-12. Freshman Lauren Shepherd (West End, N.C.) had a team-best 14 kills in the match, which Leshko dished 26 assists. Clouse once again led the Falcons, making 40 digs while Beacham contributed 24 digs. Clouse also had four aces against MBU in the second match.
Also contributing to the Falcon defensive showing was sophomore Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.), as she had three block assists and one solo block.

The Falcons will hit the road for their first match away from The Village this spring on March 10, playing at USA South East Division foe Meredith College. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
