Salem College Clips Pfeiffer Women, 2-1

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Oct. 22, 2022) – Salem College scored two first half goals to edge Pfeiffer University in a USA South match on Saturday afternoon, 2-1.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Pfeiffer outshot the Spirits 30-28, including 12 shots on goal, but despite the offensive performance, Salem notched the first goal of the match at 15:03 when Alyson Gammons scored her second goal fo the season on an assist from Darilyn Nieto.

Seven minutes later, Pfeiffer senior Kayla Blankenship (Asheboro, N.C.) provided the equalizer at 22:36 after taking passes from freshmen Maria Altamirano (Elmwoo Park, N.J.) and Tori Renna (Wake Forest, N.C.)

The goal for Blankenship marks the sixth of her Falcon career and the third of the season.  Altamirano's assist is her second career helper while Renna's assist marks the first of her career.

Salem would get the eventual game-winner at 32:34 when Ashley Linden scored her seventh of the season to push the Spirits to the 2-1 lead.

Neither team was able to score in the second half, with Salem taking the 2-1 win.
