Methodist Takes Baseball Series With Two Straight Wins Over Pfeiffer
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 25, 2022) – Visiting Methodist University took the USA Series over the Pfeiffer baseball team with a 6-5 win in game two on Saturday afternoon and followed with a 7-2 win on Sunday at Joe Ferebee Field.

How it Happened
Game 2 (Saturday) – The visiting Monarchs bolted to a 4-0 lead after the first inning, but Pfeiffer started to chip away at the lead in the fourth when senior
Blake Winebarger provided an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Zach Ferrell would get an RBI single in the fifth inning to score
Cory Lackey, followed by a
Brady Parker RBI groundout that scored Ferrell, making to 4-3.Â
Jackson Leck would give Pfeiffer the 5-4 lead on a two-RBI single, also in the fifth inning.
Methodist would plate the eventual winning runs in the eighth inning on a slow roller up the first base line. Pfeiffer relief pitcher
Dakota Caughey's flip to first base was off the mark, allowing the second run to score on the play, allowing Methodist to go up 6-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, Pfeiffer was poised for another walk off win after a single from Ferrell. Ferrell would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt and then
Jake Brown would earn a walk, putting runners on first and second.
Senior power hitter
Bryce Marsh came to the plate but popped up a 2-2 pitch to end the game.
Game 3 (Sunday) – In Sunday's rubber game, Pfeiffer claimed the 1-0 lead in the first inning after Marsh delivered a single through the right side of the infield that allowed senior
Austin Morton to score.
Methodist took the 3-1 lead in the fifth inning after getting an two-RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly.
The Monarchs struck for two more in the seventh to go up 5-1. Pfeiffer's
Landon Evans then got an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to close to 5-2.
Methodist added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth inning and then closed the Falcons in the inning to take the 7-2 win.

Pfeiffer will host No. 5 Lynchburg on Wednesday afternoon in the final home game of the season at Joe Ferebee Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
