Pfeiffer Women's Wins 7-2 Over Meredith
MIsenheimer, N.C. (April 3, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team took a 7-2 USA South win over visiting Meredith College on Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.
RECORDS
Meredith – 4-6 (2-2 USA South)
Pfeiffer – 6-5 (2-1 USA South)
THE BASICS
Pfeiffer took five of the contested singles matches and two of the three double matches en route to the 7-2 win.
Freshman
Megan Rekieta continued her stellar play at No. 1, as she won her match over Meredith's Aly Henneberry by a 6-2, 7-6 score.
Senior
Sydney Gray won her No. 3 match with relative ease over Summer Elkins, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman
Brittany Mills also was victorious in her match at No. 4 over Claire Southern, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Pfeiffer also took the matches at Nos. 5 and 6 with
Alison Sloop winning 6-1, 6-2 and
Elithe Hudson taking the 6-0, 6-1 win.
In doubles play,
Darby Sherrill and Mills took the No. 2 match 8-1 while the No. 3 match was won by Hudson and Sloop, also by an 8-1 score.
BACK ON COURT
The Falcons will continue USA South play with a home doubleheader with the Pfeiffer men's team on Sunday afternoon April 3 against Mary Baldwin University.
