How it Happened
Down 6-5 heading to the ninth inning, Pfeiffer began the comeback with a leadoff single from
Landon Evans. Evans would reach second after
Cory Lackey used a bunt single and would then scamper to third on an error by the Panther pitcher.
With runners on second and third following a Falcon strikeout, Ferrum elected to intentionally walk Falcon first baseman
Austin Morton to load the bases.
The Panthers would be charged an error on a dropped foul ball by the Ferrum catcher, extending the at-bat for Pfeiffer's
Zach Ferrell. Ferrell would then walk on a full count, forcing Evans to score, tying the game at 5-5.
Josh Turner, the next Falcon batter, fell behind in the count at 0-2, but was hit by the next pitch to force home the run from third, with Pfeiffer winning 7-6.
