Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Falls at Greensboro
Greensboro, N.C. (Jan. 21, 2023) – Greensboro College used an early first half 7-0 run to distance itself from the Pfeiffer University men's basketball team, taking an 88-60 USA South win at Hanes Gym in Greensboro on Saturday afternoon.
With the game tied at 10-10, Greensboro used a 7-0 spurt to gain the 17-10 advantage. Pfeiffer never recovered as the Pride lead by as many as 20 points (40-20) in the first half.
In the second half, Pfeiffer trimmed the lead to 11 points (49-38) following a
Rashamel Butler (Ridgeland, S.C.) basket at 16:49, but that was as close as the Falcons would get.
Greensboro (8-9, 3-3 USA South) rebuilt the 20-point lead (71-51) and cruised the rest of the way, winning 88-60.
Pfeiffer (6-9, 2-3 USA South) shot just 34.5% (20-of-58) on the afternoon and was just 6-of-26 from beyond the arc. Greensboro countered with a 47.8% (32-of-67) shooting effort while hitting eight three pointers.
The Falcons got 16 points and five rebounds from Butler while sophomore
M.J. Armstrong (Gastonia, N.C.) had 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman
Doug Smith (Badin, N.C) also had five rebounds for Pfeiffer.
Greensboro's Matthew Brown had a team-high 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead The Pride.
