Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 28) -- The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team got a pair of goals from Mateo Lata in a 3-3 draw against Southern Virginia on an unsually hot late-Octoboer Saturday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field.
The draw moved Pfeiffer's record to 7-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in USA South action.
How it Happened
Pfeiffer took a 1-0 lead when Lata scored his fifth goal of the season in the first minute, assisted by Asuncio Gonzalez.
The Knights responded to tie things up on a goal from Gavin Young in the 22nd minute.
Southern Va. then grabbed a 2-1 lead on Trey Ricker's 24th-minute goal, assisted by Jacob Cornejo and Benjamin Simister.
The Knights went up 3-1 with a 26th-minute goal from Simister.
Pfeiffer made it a 3-2 game on Lata's fifth goal of the season in the 70th minute, assisted by Andrejes Valdes.
The Falcons evened the match at 3-3 thanks to an 86th-minute goal from Jaiden Wright, his first goal of the season. Lata and Gonzalez assisted the goal. The 3-3 held to the finish.
