Pfeiffer Softball Splits Home Doubleheader With Ferrum
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2023) – Pfeiffer University split a pair of softball games with Ferrum College on Friday afternoon at Jack Ingram Field

How it Happened – Game 1
Ferrum pitcher Lyndsey Sears hurled a complete game, scattering just three hits while striking out seven Pfeiffer batters as the Panthers took the first game by a 3-0 final.
The Panthers got an RBI double from Macie Bell in the fourth inning to open the scoring to lead 1-0.
Ferrum then cashed in on a fielding error in the sixth inning, allowing a par of runs to cross to go up 3-0.
Pfeiffer's comeback attempt in the seventh started with a leadoff walk issued to
Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.). Sophomore
Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) singled, but the runner was throw out at second. A fielders choice provided the second out of the inning and a strikeout ended the game, with Ferrum winning in their first game of the year.
Pfeiffer failed to score in a home game for the first time since an 8-0 defeat at the hands of Ithaca College on March 15, 2022.
Game 2
Pfeiffer's bats came alive, with the Falcons scoring in each of the first three innings en route to the 6-0 win, earning the split.
Sophomore
Gracie Griffin (Calabash, N.C.) provided and RBI single in the first inning, putting Pfeiffer up 1-0.Â
Kyndell Warren (Lenoir, N.C.) then ripped a two-RBI single through the left side of the Ferrum infield to put the Falcons up 3-0 in the second inning.
Griffin then belted a two-run home, her first of the season, over the left field fence in the third inning to put the Falcons up 5-0.
Abbie Yarboro (Troy, N.C.) then doubled to left field, driving in Bullin to cap the Pfeiffer scoring in the fifth inning.
Kali Morton (Mooresville, N.C.) earned the pitching win for Pfeiffer, upping her season record to 2-0. Morton scattered three hits over five innings while striking out four Panther batters.
Sadie Lee (Norwood, N.C.) came in to pitch two innings in relief, giving up just one hit and striking out one batter.

Pfeiffer will cap the season-opening six game homestand on Wednesday, March 1 when they welcome former USA South foe Averett to Jack Ingram Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
