Pfeiffer Baseball Snaps Skid in 8-3 Win Over Southern Virginia
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 31, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team snapped an eight-game skid, downing visiting Southern Virginia University in the first game of a USA South series at Joe Ferebee Field on Friday afternoon.
The Basics
Down 3-0 heading into the fifth inning, Pfeiffer tied the game with a two-RBI double from freshman
Austin Wood followed by an RBI groundout from
Cory Lackey.
The Falcons gained the lead for good when
Jiwon Yun (Huntersville, N.C.) reached on a fielder's choice, allowing
Brady Parker (Oakboro, N.C.) to score from third.
Another RBI from Wood, this time on a single to center field, gave the Falcons the 6-3 lead   An SVU throwing error in the eighth inning pushed the lead to 7-3, then Yun capped the Pfeiffer scoring with his first career home run, a solo shot to right-center, providing the eventual 8-3 final.

John Owen (Richfield, N.C.) had a strong outing, throwing eight inning allowing eight hits and three runs, all unearned while striking out six Knight batters in the win, improving his season mark to 2-2.
Sam Safrit (China Grove, N.C. came in to finish the game, throwing one inning without allowing a hit
