Taylor Parrish game Pfeiffer the 2-0 cushion. Following a Chopko RBI double, another RBI groundout from Parrish in the third pushed the lead to 4-0.
Mickles hit her fifth homer of the season in the fourth, a three-run blast to put the Falcons on top, 8-0. A two-RBI single from
Micah Felts made it 1-0 while a pair of RBI doubles from
Alyssa Broaddus and
Alexis Walter made it 12-0 in the fifth. A Skyler Price sacrifice fly scored Walter from third, making it 13-0.
MBU got on the board in the fifth inning on a double steal and scored their second run on a wild pitch. A groundout to second base ended the game with Pfeiffer winning 13-2
Game 2
Sophomore
Emma Chopko lifted her fourth home run of the season on a solo blast in the second inning to grab the 1-0 lead. An MBU error in the third inning allowed sophomore
Emma Bullin to score to make it 2-0. Sophomore
Gracie Griffin would rip a two-RBI double followed by another RBI single from Chopko, giving Pfeiffer the 5-0 lead.
The Falcons would cap the scoring in the seventh inning with an
Adison Campbell RBI single to provide the eventual 6-0 final.
Pfeiffer pitcher

Pfeiffer head coach Monte Sherill, a 1987 alumnus and Sports Hall of Fame member, secured his 1,000th career win as a head coach with the doubleheader sweep. He has a career collegiate record of 247-69 in eight seasons at the helm of the Pfeiffer program
Prior to Pfeiffer Sherrill led 10 teams to NCHSAA 4A Championships and three teams to NCHSAA 4A runner-up finishes - the most state titles won by any coach in the state of North Carolina. His playoff record at the high school level is 104-20, and he was the first head coach to win state titles at two different schools. Sherrill was recognized by the NFHS as having the highest winning percentage in the nation for coaches.
Sherrill won 22 Conference Coach of the Year Awards and his teams and players are noted in over 150 NC State HS Softball records. Sherrill also holds the top two consecutive win streaks: 95 straight wins at Alexander Central and 84 straight at Central Cabarrus. Sherrill lead both high schools to be the No #1 ranked teams in the nation at some point, while the 2014 team at Alexander Central was named the No #1 team in the final NFCA poll and, ultimately, NFCA National Champions.
