Chopko Leads Pfeiffer Past WPU to Advance to USA South Championship Series
Misenheimer, N.C. (May 6, 2023) – Pfeiffer sophomore
Emma Chopko went 3-of-4 with a home run and a double, helping the Falcons to a decisive 7-1 win over William peace University to win Bracket One of the USA South Softball Tournament and advances to host the USA South Championship Series.

How it Happened
Chopko got things going for the Falcons in the first inning, as she laced an RBI double to stake the early 1-0 lead. In the third inning, she sent a towering drive down the left field line that hit the foul pole for her sixth home run of the season, putting Pfeiffer up 3-0.
Taylor Parrish would hit into a fielder's choice that scored another run in the fourth, putting Pfeiffer up 4-0.

Jaci Cook double in the fifth inning extended the lead to 5-0. WPU's Adayna Day connected for a solo home run in the sixth to make it 5-1. Pfeiffer responded in the fifth when
Kenzi Lyall and
Kyndell Warren each collected RBI, with Lyall getting a single and Warren hitting into a fielder's choice.

Kali Morton was dominant once again in earning her 18
th win of the season. Morton scattered five hits and allowed just one run while striking out seven WPU batters.
By virtue of the win, the Falcons will host the USA South Championship Series taking on No. 2 Greensboro with a doubleheader on Friday, May 12 with a time to be determined.
A third and deciding game will be played, if necessary on Saturday, May 13.
