Pfeiffer Volleyball Has No Problems in 3-0 Rout of Livingstone

MIsenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 19, 2023)  --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-13) to take down the  Division II Livingstone Blue Bears Tuesday at home at Merner Gym.

The out-of-conference win improved Pfeiffer's overall record to 4-4 on the season.

Madison Tate finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Falcons offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .571. got 15 digs from Gabby Edwards along with five blocks from Tate to lead them defensively.

Game Notes

» Pfeiffer never trailed on the way to winning the first set 25-14.
» Madison Tate had a match-high 10 kills for Pfeiffer.
» Pfeiffer got a match-high 15 digs from Gabby Edwards.
» Pfeiffer attackers were helped by a match-high 17 assists from Kylee Mayberry.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Falcons took control on the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-14. Pfeiffer opened up its biggest lead, 11 points, to close out the set.

SET 2 | Pfeiffer took the second set 25-22 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. The Falcons never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that had just one lead change before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 3 | Pfeiffer then capped the three-set sweep with a victory in set number three. The Falcons grabbed control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and never looked back to win 25-13. Pfeiffer ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to finish off the set.

Pfeiffer will travel to rival Greensboro College on Thursday, Sept. 21 for a USA South match.  First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Hanes Gym.
