Big Games From Isley, Ochoa-Contreras and Bynum Not Enough in Pfeiffer's 67-61 Loss at Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2024) -- Hannah Isley, Mara Ochoa-Contreras and Alexis Bynum combined to score 46 of Pfeiffer's 61 total points, but the Falcons fell to the Greensboro Pride 67-61 on the road Tuesday in a USA South game.

Isley led the Falcons (4-11, 3-8) with 17 points, two steals and two blocks. Ochoa-Contreras added 15 points and nine rebounds and Bynum chipped in as well with 14 points from the bench.

Ochoa-Contreras pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Pfeiffer, grabbing 18 boards and turning them into 17 second chance points.

Pfeiffer forced 20 Greensboro turnovers. The Falcons turned those takeaways into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor. Isley's two steals led the way for Pfeiffer.

How It Happened

After falling behind 10-4, Pfeiffer went on an 8-0 run with 4:34 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Miya Horton, to take a 12-10 lead. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 14-12.

Greensboro kept adding to that lead, building a 27-16 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 10-0 run, highlighted by a three from Bynum, to narrow its deficit to 27-26. Greensboro responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Falcons trailing 31-29 heading into halftime.

Greensboro continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 38-35 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run to grab a 40-38 lead with 4:44 to go in the third. Greensboro responded to seize a 51-47 lead entering the fourth quarter. Pfeiffer took advantage of four Greensboro turnovers in the quarter, scoring six points off of takeaways.

Greensboro kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 65-56 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Isley's layup, to shrink the deficit to 65-61 with 38 seconds to go in the contest. Greensboro responded and outscored the Falcons the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 67-61. Pfeiffer took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 14 points in the paint.
