Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2024) --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team dropped a pair of USA South matches on Saturday, falling to Southern Virginina and Meredith by identical 3-0 scores.
In the first match of the day, Pfeiffer could not overcome a dynamic Knights offense, falling in three sets (17-25, 20-25, 20-25).
Junior Haedyn McGrath finished with five kills on the day to lead the Falcons offense. got 13 digs from Gabby Edwards to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-17. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as 12 points as Southern Virginia never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Knights took control.
SET 2 | A 25-20 set-two loss put Pfeiffer in a 2-0 hole in the match. The Falcons trailed by as many as nine points as Southern Virginia grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 in a set that was knotted up three times before the Knights took over the lead.
SET 3 | Southern Virginia finished off the sweep with a set-three victory. The Falcons came up short by the score of 25-20. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as eight points as Southern Virginia grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Knights took over in the second half of the stanza.
In the second match of the afternoon, the Meredith offense was too much for the Falcons, as they fell in straight sets (21-25, 19-25, 6-25).
The loss dropped Pfeiffer's record to 3-13 overall and 0-7 in USA South play.

SET 2 | Pfeiffer then lost set two 25-19 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as eight points as Meredith grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up five times before the Angels took over the lead.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Falcons lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the set 25-6.
