MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 19, 2024) -- The Pfeiffer University baseball team snapped a four-game skid with a 3-2 home win over Roanoke College on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.
The Falcons broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning to take down the Roanoke Maroons 3-2.
Sophomore pitcher Sam Odum (2-1) picked up the win out of the bullpen for Pfeiffer (7-8). The right-hander went 1.1 shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing no walks and striking out one. Starting pitcher Dylan Dula threw five innings, giving up one run on three hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.
Offensively, the Falcons were led by senior Robbie Brown, who went 3-for-3 on the day with two RBI. Fellow senior C.J. Acosta put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Brown drove in two runs for Pfeiffer with a single, that scored Ben Barnes and junior Josh Turner.
The Maroons then tied the ballgame at two before the Falcons came back to reclaim their advantage in the eighth inning. Junior Wilson Lohrer came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer, which brought the Falcons lead to 3-2. The score remained 3-2 for the rest of the game, as Pfeiffer held on for the win. 78 87 85 4 3
