Atlanta, Ga. (Aug. 30, 2024) --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team walked away with a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-21, 25-11) against the Huntingdon Hawks on Friday afternoon at Woodruff Arena in the opening match of the 2024 season at the Jenny McDowell Invitational.
Junior Haedyn McGrath finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Falcons attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .333. Senior Kylee Mayberry also pitched in with eight kills and had 27 assists in the contest.
Junior libero Gabby Edwards had a team-best 11 digs to lead Pfeiffer defensively. Faith Miller also chipped in three blocks in the win.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to secure the first set 25-22. Pfeiffer led by as many as six points at 6-0 before closing out the set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Pfeiffer put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-21 victory in set number two. The Falcons earned the set victory with the help of a solid performance on the attacking side. Pfeiffer registered a .400 attack percentage with 12 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands four times, the Falcons took control for good at 20-19 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking set three. The Falcons took control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-11. Pfeiffer led by as many as 14 points at 24-10 before closing out the stanza. The Pfeiffer offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza. Pfeiffer's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Huntingdon attacks in the stanza.
