MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2025) --The Pfeiffer women's basketball team dropped 90-55 exhibition game to the North Carolina Central Eagles at home Thursday in Merner Gym.
The Falcons (6-8) had three players score in double figures, led by Ava Hairston, who had 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Kenadie Hudler added 13 points and two steals while Alexis Bynum chipped in as well with 13 points and three steals.
Led by Hairston's four offensive rebounds, Pfeiffer puleld down 14 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.
The Pfeiffer defense forced 19 NCCU turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 10 points on the other end of the floor. Bynum's three steals led the way individually for the Falcons.
How It Happened
Pfeiffer struggled out of the gate, falling behind 29-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Falcons continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 51-27 halftime deficit.
North Carolina Central continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 69-36 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Peyton McPeters, to trim its deficit to 69-41 with 1:53 to go in the third. North Carolina Central countered and stretched its lead to 73-43 heading into the fourth. Pfeiffer took advantage of five North Carolina Central turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of takeaways.
Pfeiffer could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 90-55. Pfeiffer fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 12 points.
