Falcons Fall at Guilford, 70-52

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team fell short in a 70-52 loss to Guilford on Thursday night at Ragan-Brown Field House in the final game of the 2025 calendar year.

The Falcons stayed within striking distance early and trimmed the deficit to single digits in the third quarter before Guilford pulled away late. Pfeiffer was led by senior Miya Horton, who came off the bench to score 15 points while grabbing seven rebounds and adding four assists.  Junior Lettie Michael contributed 11 points and two blocks, and sophomore Ava Hairston finished with nine points and five rebounds. Graduate student Nyree Bell anchored the glass with eight rebounds and three assists.

Pfeiffer dominated the offensive boards with 19 and outscored Guilford's bench 24-13, but turnovers proved costly as the Falcons committed 20, leading to 30 Quaker points. Pfeiffer shot 31.3% from the field and went 10-for-18 at the free-throw line.

Guilford was paced by Anna Giannopoulou's 19 points and 13 rebounds while remaining undefeated on the season, improving to 8-0.

Pfeiffer will enter the holiday break with a 6-3 overall mark and a 4-0 record in USA South play.

The next game for the Falcons is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3, when they travel to Fayetteville, N.C. for a USA South road game with Methodist.
