Bynum Nets 18 in Pfeiffer's 62-55 Road Win at Warren Wilson

SWANNANOA, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2025) --Senior Alexis Bunum scored 18 points while sophomore Lola Cabaniss-Ali totaled 11 rebounds as the Pfeiffer women's basketball team took a 62-55 road win over Warren Wilson College on Monday evening/

In addition to Bynum's 18, the Falcons (10-10) had two other players score in double figures as sophomore Peyton McPeters tacked on 14 points while junior Hannah Isley chipped in as well with 11 points, two steals and three blocks.  Bynum added seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals to go along with her 18 points.

The Pfeiffer defense held the WWC shooters to just 29.8 percent from the field, including 22.2 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

Pfeiffer bolted out to a 15-0 lead, culminating in a bucket from Bynum, to take an early lead with 4:07 left in the first quarter. The Falcons entered the quarter break with a 19-10 advantage. Pfeiffer capitalized on nine turnovers in the period, turning them into eight points on the other end of the floor.

Pfeiffer kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 6-0 run starting at the 9:25 mark in the second quarter, highlighted by a bucket from freshman Ava Hairston, to increase its lead to 25-10. The Owls were able to cut into that lead, but the Falcons still enjoyed a 31-20 advantage heading into halftime. Pfeiffer dominated in the paint, scoring eight of its 12 points close to the basket.

Pfeiffer continued to preserve the halftime lead before going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from McPeters, to expand its lead further to 43-32 with 4:59 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, WWC had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Falcons still entered the fourth quarter with a 47-40 edge. Pfeiffer played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 16 points in the paint.

The Falcons then held on for the victory in the fourth quarter. Pfeiffer took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 15 points in the paint.
