Hampden-Sydney Downs Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse, 20-13
Hampden-Sydney, Va. (Feb 15, 2025) – The visiting Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team dropped their first game of the season by a 20-13 score to Hampden-Sydney on Saturday afternoon at a rainy Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The homestanding Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring all three goals in a span of nearly three minutes before Pfeiffer jumped on the board after an

Trent Orr and
Mason Tardiff would team for a score on a man-up opportunity at 10:47 to close the gap to 3-2.
H-SC went up 4-2 before the Falcons closed to 4-3 on an
Andrew Brown goal at 7:46 of the first.
The Tigers would then score the next two goals before
Khyler Johnson closed the scoring the first quarter to bring the Falcons to 6-4.
Hampden-Sydney then scored seven unanswered goals to open the second quarter to take a 13-4 lead. Following another goal by Orr and two more by Hampden-Sydney, Pfeiffer found themselves down 13-5 at halftime.
The Falcons would respond in the third by opening the quarter with three straight scores to close to 15-8. That would be the closest the Falcons would get, with Hampden-Sydney taking the 20-13 win.
Inside the Box Score
Individually, Orr led the way with four goals while Johnson Brown and Tardiff each had two scores each. Johnson also added three assists to finish with five points while Tardiff also had one assist to finish with three points on the afternoon.
Collin Finley added a team-high four ground balls while
Zach Gignac and
Brandon Luft each had two caused turnovers.
Goalkeeper
Korbin Hamilton made 17 saves while absorbing the loss.
