BREVARD, N.C. --The Pfeiffer Falcons took an 11-10 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 13-11 to the Brevard Tornados in game one of a USA South doubleheader.

Dylan Dula (1-3) came out of the bullpen for Pfeiffer (5-13, 1-3) and took the loss. Ivan Delp was a bright spot for the Falcons, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Pfeiffer scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of J. Javier.

The Tornados then tied the ballgame at three before the Falcons came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Pfeiffer brought home a pair, with one run driven in by A. Wood's single, which brought the Falcons lead to 5-3.

Pfeiffer kept Brevard scoreless before building their lead to 7-3 the following inning. Pfeiffer picked up two runs, including one on a solo dinger from .

Pfeiffer surrendered the lead they built in the fifth, but got back on the scoreboard in the sixth trailing 10-7. The Falcons scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of L. Barrett, bringing the score to 11-10 in favor of Pfeiffer. The Falcons were unable to hold the lead, as Brevard scored three times over the remaining three innings to grab the 13-11 win.

GAME NOTES
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed four runs across.
» Pfeiffer left 13 runners stranded on base in the loss.
» Both H. Huneycutt and Wood stole two bases in Saturday's game.

In game two Thomas Ashby and Joe Javier each collected three hits to help propel the Pfeiffer Falcons over the Brevard Tornados 7-2 on Saturday.

Thad Lewis (2-2) got the win for Pfeiffer (6-13, 2-3). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits, allowing three walks and striking out four. Sam Safrit also pitched well, going three shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.

In addition to his three hits, Ashby had a double, a home run and an RBI to lead the Falcons. Javier added a double and two RBI to his three-hit performance as well. W. Lohrer also chipped in for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the fourth inning after the Tornados cut it to 3-1. Pfeiffer picked up two runs, including one on a solo homer off the bat of Ashby, which brought the Falcons lead to 5-1.

Pfeiffer kept Brevard without a run before expanding their lead to 6-1 the following inning.

The Tornados gained ground, closing the gap to 6-2 until Pfeiffer added some insurance in the eighth. The Falcons scored once on an RBI single off the bat of H. Huneycutt, bringing the Pfeiffer advantage to 7-2. The score remained 7-2 for the rest of the game, as the Falcons coasted to the win.
