FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (April 18, 2025) --Pfeiffer struggled to cash in on several offensive opportunities, leavingĀ 10 runners on base in a 7-4 defeat at the hands of the Methodist Monarchs on Friday afternoon in the first game of a USA South series at Armstrong-Shelley Field in Fayetteville, N.C.
Thad Lewis (4-3) started for Pfeifferand took the loss on the mound for Pfeiffer (11-21, 7-9). Cayman Buck was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going four innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking one and striking out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Falcons got on the board in the third inning when C.J. Acosta drove in two runs for Pfeiffer with a single, that scored Wilson Lohrer and Joe Javier.
The Monarchs expanded their lead to 6-2 before the Falcons offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the eighth. Pfeiffer managed to push across two runs in the inning, which closed the Monarchs lead to 6-4. The Falcons were unable to get any closer, as Methodist added one run to their tally on the way to a 7-4 final.
