MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 26, 2025) --Senior Wilson Lohrer racked up four RBIs to help lead the Pfeiffer Falcons over the William Peace Pacers 7-6 on Saturday in game one of a pivotal USA South series at Joe Ferebee Field.
Senior right-hander Thad Lewis (5-3) got the win for Pfeiffer (13-23, 8-11). Lewis tossed seven innings, giving up three runs on five hits, allowing four walks while striking out three. Junior Sam Safrit also pitched well, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit in earning his fifth save of the season.
Lohrer went 2-for-3 in addition to his four RBIs for the Falcons. Senior Jiwon Yun put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Senior Hayden Furr also contributed for Pfeiffer, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Senior C.J. Acosta came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.
The Falcons then held the Pacers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Junior Austin Wood came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Falcons.
Pfeiffer's lead had evaporated once the fifth inning came around and turned into a 3-2 William Peace advantage, when the Falcons re-took control at 4-3. The Falcons scored twice, with one run coming across on Furr's single.
Pfeiffer kept the Pacers scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The Falcons pushed across two runs, including one on a solo homer off the bat of Yun, bringing the Pfeiffer advantage to 6-3.
William Peace got within 6-4 until the Falcons scored again in the eighth inning to stretch its lead to 7-4. Wood came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board. William Peace put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Falcons still held on for the 7-6 win.
