Pfeiffer Dominates Home Invitational with Commanding Victory

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2025) — Pfeiffer University's men's cross country team delivered a dominant performance Friday evening, cruising to a first-place finish at the Pfeiffer Invitational held on their home course.
Led by senior Sawyer Helms, who claimed the individual title with a time of 25:17.8 over the 8-kilometer course, the Falcons placed all five scoring runners in the top seven to finish with just 17 points.

Pfeiffer's scoring lineup included Jorge Clemente-Garcia (2nd, 26:07.0), Bricen Burleson (3rd, 26:14.2), Cannon Powell (4th, 26:20.4), and Ezequiel Cannas (7th, 26:47.0), showcasing both depth and front-end speed.

The Falcons averaged 26:10 per runner and posted a 1:29 spread between their first and fifth scorers, a mark that proved insurmountable for the rest of the field.

Mount Olive finished second with 64 points, narrowly edging Division I Winthrop (67 points) in a tight battle for runner-up honors. Spartanburg Methodist (112), Livingstone (144), and Methodist (156) rounded out the top six.

Pfeiffer also saw strong performances from non-scoring runners, including Alim Coleman (10th, 27:16.3) and Kohen Johnson (11th, 27:19.1), further emphasizing the team's depth.

Pfeiffer will next turn their focus on competing in the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
