Meredith sweeps Pfeiffer in USA South volleyball matchup
Raleigh, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2025) — Pfeiffer University struggled to find its rhythm Tuesday night, falling in straight sets to Meredith College in a USA South Conference volleyball match at Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
Meredith (9-5, 3-1 USA South) dominated the match from start to finish, defeating Pfeiffer (3-10, 1-4 USA South) by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-22.Â
Pfeiffer was led offensively by
Madison Tate, who recorded 4 kills and had one ace, and
Haedyn McGrath, who added 4 kills and a block assist.
Gabi Gama contributed 9 digs and 4 kills, while
Gabby Edwards led the team with 9 digs and 3 assists.
Despite the effort, Pfeiffer was hampered by attack errors, finishing with a hitting percentage of just .011 (19 kills, 18 errors on 92 attempts). Meredith, meanwhile, hit .295 as a team and was paced by
Caitlyn Russell, who tallied 18 kills and 6 digs, and
Lillie Davis, who dished out 33 assists and added 6 digs.
The Falcons managed 4 service aces and 3 blocks, but were outmatched at the net and in serve receive, committing 14 service errors and 4 reception errors.
Pfeiffer will return home to Merner Gym on Saturday, Sept. 27 was they host their first tri-match of the season. The Falcons will take on N.C. Wesleyan in a USA South match at Noon, followed by a 4:00 p.m. nonconference match with Bob Jones. NCWU and Bob Jones will play in the middle match of the day at 2:00 p.m.
