MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2026) — Pfeiffer University secured a 5–2 win over Piedmont on Friday at the Knapp Tennis Center, taking two of three doubles matches and four of six singles flights to remain unbeaten on the season. The win is the first over Piedmont since an 8-1 win on April 23, 2019.
Pfeiffer opened the match by claiming the doubles point behind decisive wins in matches 1 and 3.
Jayden Wellman and
Valter Albuquerque delivered a commanding 6–2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while
Aden Burgoyne and Aristi van Bergeijk matched the momentum with a 6–4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Albuquerque, outlasted Mark Backeberg in a three-set battle at No. 1 singles, winning 6–1, 2–6, 6–1 in his first match in the Black and Gold. Sophomore
Aissultan Mukhambetov added a straight-sets win at No. 2, prevailing 7–5, 6–1, while
Jayden Wellman posted another three-set triumph at No. 3, topping Rohan Kavali 6–1, 4–6, 6–1.
Hugo Kezen closed out Pfeiffer's singles scoring with a 7–5, 6–2 win in the No. 6 match..
Piedmont's two points came from wins at Flights 4 and 5, with Horacio Rodriguez and Leyton Dunn each securing straight-set victories
The Falcons will return to home court play on Saturday, Feb. 14 with a 2:00 p.m. match with Virginia Wesleyan.
