MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Feb. 14, 2026) — Maryville College broke open a tight game with a four-run seventh inning and held off Pfeiffer 7-3 on Saturday night at Joe Ferebee Field.
Pfeiffer (0-3) stayed within striking distance most of the night but stranded 14 runners and mustered just one extra-base hit, a pinch-hit double by
Tyler Kytta in the eighth.
Maryville's Colin Dunworth proved nearly unstoppable, going 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored. His solo homer in the fourth opened the scoring, and he later added key hits in both the sixth and seventh innings. Masin Hall added a two-run homer in the seventh to help widen the margin.
Pfeiffer starter
Jake Blevins worked five innings, allowing three hits and two runs — only one earned — while striking out two. Reliever
Josh Little entered in the sixth and absorbed the bulk of Maryville's late offense, giving up four earned runs on five hits in 1? innings.
Offensively, freshman catcher
Ben Mecimore led the Falcons with a 3-for-5 night, collecting all singles.
Christian Bellantoni drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, finishing 1-for-4 with an RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
Badin Gusa reached base three times, including twice via hit-by-pitch, and drove in a run in the eighth.
Josh Jones produced Pfeiffer's final run with a pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth.
Despite multiple scoring chances—including loaded bases in both the fourth and eighth—Pfeiffer struggled to deliver the big hit. The Falcons' defense also committed two errors, leading to unearned runs that extended Maryville's lead.
Maryville used three pitchers after starter Titus Torbett exited in the fifth. Xavier Resto earned the win with four innings of relief, striking out eight while allowing no earned runs. Logan Denton closed the ninth.
Pfeiffer will hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday, Feb. 17 when they pay a visit to No. 6 Lynchburg. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
