Brevard pulls away late to top Pfeiffer despite big nights from Michael, Hairston
BREVARD, N.C. (February 19, 2026) — Pfeiffer's outside shooting kept it in front for much of the first half, but Brevard used a strong second-half surge to hand the Falcons a 74-66 USA South road loss Thursday night at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Lettie Michael led Pfeiffer (14-10, 11-6 USA South) with 20 points, knocking down six 3-pointers while playing all 40 minutes.
Ava Hairston added 18 points and six rebounds, and
Nyree Bell nearly posted a double-double with 10 points, seven boards and six assists.
Pfeiffer opened the game on a 21-11 run, fueled by five early threes — three from Michael — and held a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. The Falcons stretched the margin to as many as 12 in the second, but Brevard (20-4, 15-2) caught fire from deep, closing the half on a 22-12 run to tie it 33-33 at the break.
Michael's seventh 3-pointer of the night briefly put Pfeiffer back ahead 40-35 early in the third, but the Tornados capitalized on 12 second-half points off turnovers and 14 total points in transition to seize control. Brevard outscored the Falcons 21-12 in the third quarter and never trailed again.
Peyton McPeters added seven points and six rebounds for Pfeiffer, while
Kaileigh Gunter chipped in seven points and two steals.
The Falcons hit 10 threes in the game , but Brevard's bench outscored Pfeiffer 25-4, and the Tornados went 13 of 19 at the free-throw line to seal the win.
Pfeiffer closes the regular season Saturday.
