Pfeiffer Women Take Fourth at USA South Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (February 27, 2026) — Pfeiffer University posted a series of strong scoring efforts across sprints, mid-distance, relays and field events Friday at the USA South Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track in taking home a fourth place finish

SPRINTS

Pfeiffer earned points in the short sprints, beginning with the 60 meters, where Ge'Kayla Goins advanced to the semifinal round and clocked 8.34 in prelims, while teammate Savannah Wise added an 8.83 performance. Neither ultimately reached the final, but both contributed to Pfeiffer's early sprint presence.
In the 200 meters, freshman Mesiyah Howell delivered Pfeiffer's strongest showing, placing ninth in 27.02, while Wise added a second entry for the Falcons with a 29.20 finish.

MIDDLE DISTANCE & DISTANCE

Pfeiffer's women shined most in the mid-distance events. In the 800 meters, the Falcons placed three runners in the top eight—Ryan Germain (6th, 2:31.17), Katelyn Lentz (7th, 2:35.25), and Makayla Borst (8th, 2:36.74). Senior Brionna Saunders added a 14th-place finish in 3:00.89.
Borst returned in the mile, finishing 8th in 5:42.29, with Saunders placing 13th in 6:57.05, giving Pfeiffer key distance points in the team standings.
In the 5000 meters, Hayley Borst placed 8th in 20:57.88, rounding out the distance group's scoring output.

RELAYS

Pfeiffer recorded one of its strongest results of the day in the 4x400 relay, finishing fourth in 4:23.87 with the team of Lentz, Germain, Makayla Borst and Howell.
The Falcons followed with a runner-up finish in the Distance Medley Relay, clocking 13:27.87 behind Southern Virginia. The lineup featured Germain, Howell, Lentz and Borst, all of whom had already scored individually.

FIELD EVENTS

In the jumps, Pfeiffer produced major scoring performances. Jayden Carter cleared 1.50m in the high jump to place third, securing one of the team's best finishes of the meet.
The Falcons were equally impactful in the long jump, where Ge'Kayla Goins finished second at 5.32m, achieving a new meet record. Carter doubled back with a 4.78m jump for 9th place.

Pfeiffer also earned points in the triple jump, where Carter again excelled, placing second with 11.02m, while Goins added a fifth-place finish at 10.07m.
