MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 21, 2026) — Pfeiffer University endured a difficult Saturday at Joe Ferebee Field, dropping both games of a USA South doubleheader to Greensboro despite several notable individual performances from the Falcons.
Game 1: Greensboro 23, Pfeiffer 8
Pfeiffer (9–12, 4–1 USA South entering the game) traded punches early in a high-offense opener but couldn't slow a relentless Greensboro lineup that produced 23 runs on 21 hits. The Falcons' offense showed fight, recording 11 hits of their own and posting crooked numbers in the second, third, and fifth innings.
Ben Mecimore sparked the offense with a multi-hit day, including a two-double performance across the doubleheader.
Joe Javier, Connor Coy, and
Levi Barrett each contributed hits with runners aboard, while
Jack Brandle drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Pfeiffer also produced a three-run fifth inning, drawing timely walks and taking advantage of Greensboro miscues.
On the mound, Pfeiffer cycled through six pitchers in an attempt to stem Greensboro's momentum. Starter
Jake Blevins and relievers
Chance Hunt,
Skylar Faircloth, JD Basinger, and others faced a Greensboro offense that struck early and often, including four home runs from Trevor Testerman.
Game 2: Greensboro 9, Pfeiffer 1
Pfeiffer opened the nightcap with promise: Mecimore doubled in the first inning and came home when Brandle lifted a sacrifice fly to right, giving the Falcons a 1–0 lead. That would be their only run, though they continued to generate baserunners throughout the game. Pfeiffer finished with six hits and drew four walks, but left 11 runners on base.
Mecimore again led the Falcons with a 2-for-4 performance featuring two doubles. Barrett reached base three times, and
Ethan Willard added a hit, walk, and stolen base. Pfeiffer threatened repeatedly—stranding two runners in the 3rd, 4th, and 9th innings—but couldn't convert against Greensboro's bullpen.
On the mound,
Cayman Buck worked 6.2 innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs while striking out four. He kept Pfeiffer within reach until Greensboro erupted for five runs in the ninth, putting the game out of reach. Relievers
Dylan Dula,
Josh Little, and
Andrew Bruss combined to finish the final 2.1 innings..
