Gallery: (2-5-2024) Merner Gym Action
The groundwork for Merner Gymnasium was started in 1970 and the project was completed in 1971. The first game in the new gym was played on Dec. 9, 1971, with the Pfeiffer men's basketball team defeating UNC Wilmington, 90-73.
The seating capacity is 1,800 fans and the venue was built where the former baseball field was located. Merner Gym currently hosts the men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team.
In addition, the gym is also the hub of athletic activity on campus, as it houses administrative and coaches offices, the sports medicine center, locker rooms, weight and conditioning rooms, athletics storage and equipment rooms, and the Falcon Club Lounge.
