Lefko-Mills Field

Soccer and Lacrosse

Lefko-Mills Field is the home for Pfeiffer Soccer and Lacrosse programs. The field is named after legendary soccer coach, Nicholas E. Lefko and men's lacrosse coach Tom Mills and is the home to the 2015 Men's Soccer NCAA Division II Champions.

Lefko coached at Pfeiffer from 1959-74 and was enshrined as a charter member of the Pfeiffer Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. He also was inducted to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1979. Lefko coached three All-Americans and guided his 1965 team to a 10-1 record and led them to a national ranking. He served at Pfeiffer for 42 years.

Mills was a former player and assistant coach for the Falcons, who helped recruit players from the Northeast that laid the foundation for the men's lacrosse program.

The field is located beside the softball and baseball fields, just a short walk from Merner Gym.

In the winter of 2023-24, the natural grass surface was replaced with a state-of-the-art artificial turf surface.

The surface, known by the brand name of Shaw Sports Turf Legion 2.0, was installed by Advanced Sports Group from Woodstock, Ga.

The new turf surface at Lefko Field has NCAA regulation dimensions for all four sports that compete on the field.  The Pfeiffer soccer teams compete on a 120-by-75 yard pitch, while the men's lacrosse field dimensions are 110-by-60 yards.  Pfeiffer's women's lacrosse team has a playing dimension of 120-by-65 yards.

The soccer lines are in the traditional white markings while the men's lacrosse markings are in black.  The women's lacrosse lines feature Pfeiffer's "Falcon Gray" color scheme.

With artificial turf installed, it drastically cuts field preparation time for Pfeiffer's athletic staff in addition to improving drainage, and allows for safer competition following periods of rainy weather.

In addition, the turf field allows other organizations in the community access to use the facility.

The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team was the first team to play on the newly installed surface on Feb. 25, 2024 against Wilmington (Del.), with the men's lacrosse team hosting their first game on the turf on March 5, 2024 against Calvin College.

Pfeiffer University renamed the venue to Lefko-Mills Field on March 23, 2024 during a pregame ceremony prior to the men's lacrosse home game against Piedmont University.

The Pfeiffer men's soccer team will host their first match on the new turf on Aug. 30, 2024 against Guilford College.  Pfeiffer's women's soccer team will play their first home match on the new surface on, also on Aug. 30, 2024 against Averett University.
