Don Spencer

2023-24:
Entering his third year with the Falcons, Spencer was promoted from Assistant to the Associate Head Coach. He joined the Men's Basketball staff in the summer of 2021 and later that fall, the program earned it's first USA South Divisional Title since joining the league. Spencer works to bring success to every aspect within the Men's Basketball program.

Prior to Pfeiffer:
Spencer’s coaching career was kick started at the University of Eastern Michigan. After a knee injury ended his football career at EMU before it started, Spencer returned to his first love, basketball.

His 20+ year coaching career began as an assistant at Ann Arbor Rudolf Steiner in the early 2000s. He moved from there to a job as an assistant at Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard where he got to work with Michigan Mr. Basketball candidate, Eso Akunne, and helped the Irish reach the state semifinals. He was the first head coach at Ypsilanti Arbor Prep when the school opened in 2011. The Gators won their first two District titles under Spencer.

Spencer collected two Coach of the Year awards, served as the Regional Director for the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan for four years, and won ten combined high school championships, six as an assistant and four as a head coach.

Outside of high school, Spencer coached the Michigan Mustangs, a premiere program in the Adidas gauntlet for AAU. Under his leadership, that team went on to win the Super 64 Tournament in Las Vegas. Spencer has also run over 300 camps and clinics across the country.
