Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – For the second straight season, the Pfeiffer women's basketball team won its season opener, easily dispatching of Hollins (0-2) by a final score of 72-33 on Friday evening inside Merner Gymnasium. Grayson Harris tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and added four blocked shots.
The Falcons tied a team record with 24 steals on the evening and forced Hollins into 34 turnovers. Pfeiffer's press defense also forced Hollins to shoot just 9-for-41 (22.0 percent) from the floor and 1-for-10 from long range.
Pfeiffer's balanced attack saw all 14 players score a point and the Falcons dominated on the boards, holding a 56-42 edge on the glass. Point guard Dajea Scott had four assists and four steals and Sydni Bickford knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and added a team-high five steals. Kaylee O'Dwyer recorded a career-high seven rebounds off the bench and reserve Mya Johnson tallied eight points and five boards.
The Falcons dominated from the onset and took a 17-4 advantage at the conclusion of the first quarter. It was more of the same in the second stanza, with Pfeiffer outscoring the visitors 28-13 to take a 45-17 lead into the break.
Keyazia Taylor led the visitors with 11 points but went just 4-for-18 from the field.
The last time Pfeiffer recorded 24 steals in a game came against Limestone all the way back on 2/8/2007.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Monday night when they travel to USA South opponent William Peace for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
