Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Comes up Short at Averett
Danville, Va. (Oct. 5, 2021) – The Averett University men's soccer team scored 22 seconds into the match and went on to a 5-2 USA South win over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday night in Danville, Va.

The Cougars struck quickly, just 22 seconds into the match when Baste Endresen took a cross from Ethan Sternberg, putting Averett up 1-0. They went up 2-0 in the 21
st minute when Moises Garcia scored from 18 yards out to the left of Pfeiffer goalkeeper

Sam Stewart (Belhaven, N.C.) drew the Falcons to 2-1 in the 36
th minute after he converted a penalty kick.
After trailing 2-1 at halftime,
Jason Leyva (Monroe, N.C.) knotted the match at 2-2 when he received a pass from Stewart from a free kick in the 52
nd minute.
Two minutes later Ednresen and Klass teamed up again on what would be the eventual game-winner, putting the Cougars up 3-2. Averett's Agustin Jaraba would net two goals to provide the 5-2 final, with his scores coming in the 62
nd and 72
nd minute, respectively.
