Pfeiffer Women Fall on the Road at Southern Virginia
Buena Vista, Va. (Jan. 4, 2023) – Despite having three in double figures, the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team dropped a 77-60 USA South game at Southern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon.
Pfeiffer started slow hitting just 2-of-12 shots in the first quarter as they trailed 22-10 after the first frame.
SVU's lead grew to as many as 18 points, on two separate occasions in the second quarter. The latter coming 1:54 before halftime when the Knights went ahead 36-18. Pfeiffer trailed at halftime 36-23.
SVU then outscored the Falcons 20-13 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 56-36 heading into the fourth.
Pfeiffer would get no closer than 14 points the rest of the way, with SVU taking the 77-60 win.

Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.) scored a team-best 18 points while freshman
Miya Horton (Lenoir, N.C.) secured a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Horton also added seven assists and five steals.
Sophomore
Kenadie Hudler (Jefferson, N.C.) hit three from long range to finish with 10 points. Hudler also had six rebounds in the loss.
Pfeiffer now stands at 2-9 overall and 0-4 in USA South play while Southern Virginia improves to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Pfeiffer will return home to play in the first home game of 2023 on Saturday, Jan. 7 with a 2:00 p.m. USA South tipoff against Meredith College.
