N.C. Wesleyan Deals Pfeiffer Women's Basketball a 58-49 Defeat in USA South Tournament
Rocky Mount, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2023) – Second-seeded N.C. Wesleyan used a fourth quarter run to pull away from Pfeiffer University in the first round of the USA South Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Turning Point
With the score tied at 38-38 entering the fourth quarter, N.C. Wesleyan used a 14-4 run over the first 4:49 of the quarter to grab the 52-42 lead. Pfeiffer was unable to get the Bishops' lead to under seven points the rest of the way, falling 58-49.
Individual Leaders
- Sophomore Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) lead Pfeiffer with 19 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Ellison went 9-of-18 from the field and had a pair of steals and one assist.
- Freshman Hannah Isley (China Grove, N.C.) had 15 points and three rebounds. She also managed one block and one steal.
- Sophomore Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with nine points and had a two steals and two assists.
 Inside the Box Score
- Pfeiffer was limited to an 0-15 effort from beyond the arch while NCWU was 4-of-16.
- Neither team shot the ball well, with NCWU going 23-of-65 (35.4%) and Pfeiffer returning a 21-of-61 (34.4%) performance.
- Pfeiffer had 34 points in the paint compared to just 20 for NCWU.
With the loss, Pfeiffer concludes the season at 6-17 overall and 4-12 in USA South play.
