Lohrer Homers Twice in Pfeiffer's Big 19-7 Win at Southern Virginia

BUENA VISTA, Va. (March 29, 2024 -- Pfeiffer's Wilson Lohrer put together an outstanding performance at the plate Friday, hitting two homers to help propel the Pfeiffer Falcons to a big 19-7 USA South win at Southern Virginia University.

Pfeiffer's Jake Blevins (2-3) started on the mound and picked up the win for the Falcons (9-10, 2-5). The right-hander went six innings, gave up five earned runs on nine hits, allowing two walks while striking out six.

Lohrer went 2-for-6 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with four RBIs. Zach Ferrell added to Lohrer's power-hitting performance by going 2-for-6 with a double, a triple and four RBI along with drawing a walk.

Sophomore Austin Wood also chipped in for the Falcons, going 4-for-4 with a double, two walks and three RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons put runs on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Pfeiffer hit two home runs in the inning on the way to the 5-0 lead..

The Falcons then held the Knights scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Pfeiffer brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Robbie Brown's single, which brought the Falcons lead to 7-0.

Southern Virginia narrowed Pfeiffer's lead to 7-2 before the Falcons stretched the advantage to 14-2 in the fourth inning. The Falcons bats heated up in the frame, scoring seven runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Ferrell and a two-run single from Brown.

The Knights gained ground, closing the gap to 14-7 until Pfeiffer added more runs in the eighth. The Falcons scored five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Ferrell, bringing the score to 19-7. in favor of Pfeiffer. The score remained 19-7 for the rest of the game, as the Falcons coasted to the eight-inning win.
