Calvin University Edges Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse, 9-7
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 5, 2024) – Visiting Calvin University jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and was able to hold on for a 9-7 nonconference men's lacrosse win over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday afternoon at a sunny and warm Lefko Field

HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Knights outscored the Falcons 5-0 in the first quarter to take the early lead. Pfeiffer then held Calvin scoreless in the second quarter while posting goals from
Quinn Becraft at 13:12 and a man-up goal from
Zach DeFazio at the 10:27 mark to pull to 5-2. That score would remain until halftime.
In the third quarter, Pfeiffer would score the first goal on an unassisted tally from
Zach Gignac. Calvin responded with a score at 9:08 to boost their lead to 6-3.
The Knight lead would grow to 7-3 before Pfeiffer reeled off four straight scores to tie the game at 7-7. The tying goal came from the stick of
Jared Butler at the 6:45 mark.
Calvin would get the eventual game-winner at 6:06 when Braden Carpenter found the back of the net. The Knights would add an insurance goal with 5:02 remaining and held the Falcons scoreless the rest of the way, taking the 9-7 win.

Ethan Miles had a goal and an assist, as did graduate student
Jared Butler.
Faceoff specialist
Elias Solano went 9-of-14 in the middle, collecting four ground balls while
Brandon Luft also had four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper
Jason Rowland made eight saves on the afternoon while his Calvin counterpart, Corgan Shaumburg made 16 stops.
