Ingenito Clinches 5-2 Pfeiffer Women's Tennis Win Over Southern Virginia

Misenheimer, N.C. (April 15, 2025)– Sophomore Haley Ingenito won her match at No. 2 singles in three sets to clinch the USA South match with visiting Southern Virginia on Tuesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center

THE BASICS
In doubles play, Pfeiffer jumped ahead 1-0 after winning at No. 3 and at No. 2.  Fanny Apostolou and Haley Ingenito got things started with a 6-0 win at No. 3.  After SVU evened the doubles competition with a 6-0 win at No. 1, Riley Isley and Sydney Cohen won their No. 2 match by a 6-1 final.

In singles play, SVU again tied the match at 1-1 after a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1.  SVU would take the 2-1 lead after Isley retired from her No. 5 singles match.

Pfeiffer's Sonya Rhoades got a 6-0, 6-0 straight-set win at No. 6 to tie the dual match at 2-2.  Pfeiffer would then take the 3-2 lead after Sydney Cohen outlasted her SVU opponent in the No. 3 match, winning 6-3, 7-6, taking the tiebreaker by a 7-4 count.

Ingenito would clinch the team win for the Falcons at the No. 2 match, winning 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, pushing the Falcon lead to 4-2.

Apostolou then won her match at No. 4, coming back after dropping the first set, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to provide the 5-2 Falcon win.

The Next Match
The Falcons will close the regular season on Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. with a nonconference home match with Ferrum.
