Pfeiffer Splits Matches at Covenant Classic, Downing Spalding, 3-2, Falling to host Covenant
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Aug. 30, 2025) — The Pfeiffer University volleyball team earned a hard-fought five-set victory over Spalding University before falling in straight sets to Covenant College at the Covenant Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Barnes PE Center.
In the opening match, Pfeiffer (1-2) outlasted Spalding (0-3) with a 25-19, 25-19, 13-25, 25-27, 15-13 win. The Falcons were led by sophomore
Madison Tate, who posted 14 kills on a .429 hitting percentage and added five blocks.
Faith Miller contributed 10 kills and three service aces, while
Haedyn McGrath added 12 kills and three blocks.
Pfeiffer's defense was anchored by
Gabby Edwards, who recorded 22 digs and six receptions. The Falcons totaled 104 digs and 11 blocks as a team, while serving up 11 aces.
In the afternoon match, Pfeiffer struggled against Covenant (3-1), dropping the contest 25-17, 25-10, 25-17. McGrath again led the Falcons with eight kills and six digs, while
Abby Lewis added five kills. Pfeiffer hit just .041 as a team and was outpaced by Covenant's .347 attack percentage and 10 service aces.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Wednesday, Sept. 3 with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference road match at Johnson & Wales.
