Pfeiffer Volleyball Splits Saturday Doubleheader in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Va. (Sept. 20, 2025) — Pfeiffer University bounced back from a morning loss to Southern Virginia to earn a hard-fought five-set victory over William Peace University on Saturday at the Duchossois Athletic & Recreation Center.
In the opener, Southern Virginia (9-3, 3-0 USA South) controlled the match from start to finish, defeating Pfeiffer in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, 25-16. The Falcons (2-9, 0-3 USA South) struggled offensively, hitting just -.016 for the match and committing 26 attack errors.
Haedyn McGrath led Pfeiffer with six kills, while
Faith Miller added four kills and a .273 hitting percentage.
Madison Tate contributed five blocks and two service aces.
Despite the loss, Pfeiffer showed resilience in the afternoon match, rallying to defeat William Peace (7-8, 1-3 USA South) in five sets: 25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 15-5. The Falcons improved to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Gabi Gama paced Pfeiffer with 13 kills, four service aces, and 23 digs, while McGrath chipped in nine kills and two blocks. Setter
Karmen Rion dished out 21 assists and added eight digs. The Falcons posted a .093 hitting percentage and tallied 10 service aces and 85 digs in the win.
Pfeiffer dominated the decisive fifth set, hitting .294 and limiting the Pacers to just five points. The Falcons closed the match on a 10-2 run, capped by a kill from
Lannah Huneycutt.
The Falcons will return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 23 when they travel to Raleigh to take on Meredith College in a 6:00 p.m. USA South match.
