MISENHEIMER, N.C. (February 17, 2026) — Pfeiffer University pulled away in the second half to secure a 64–50 women's basketball USA South victory over William Peace University Tuesday evening inside Merner Gym. The Falcons used a dominant 38-point second half and a standout performance from sophomore guard Ava Hairston to break open what had been a tied game at halftime.

The contest opened with both teams trading baskets through a tightly played first half that featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes. Each side posted 26 points through the first 20 minutes, with William Peace leaning on Ensley Perry's 10 early points and solid interior work from Amiah Griffin, who registered 7 points and 7 rebounds before the break. Pfeiffer countered with balanced scoring from Kaileigh Gunter, Hairston, and Lettie Michael.

Coming out of halftime, the Falcons seized momentum. Hairston ignited the run with 12 third-quarter points, repeatedly converting in transition as Pfeiffer capitalized on William Peace turnovers. The Falcons outscored the Pacers 20–14 in the period to take a 46–40 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Pfeiffer continued its push in the final frame, outscoring the Pacers 18–10. Michael added two key three-pointers, while Gunter and Peyton McPeters extended the lead at the free-throw line. The Falcons led by as many as 15 late in the game.

Hairston finished with a game-high 20 points, adding 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Gunter contributed 16 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, while Michael added 7 points and 4 steals. Pfeiffer's defensive pressure proved decisive, forcing 25 William Peace turnovers and turning them into 24 points.

Perry led William Peace with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while adding 6 assists. Griffin posted 10 rebounds, and freshman guard Alyssa Monroe delivered 6 fourth-quarter points off the bench. Despite strong individual efforts, the Pacers struggled from long range (5-for-23) and were outscored 23–5 in fast-break points.

The Falcons will play in their final regular season road game on Feb. 19 at 7:00 p.m.when they travel to Brevard College.
