NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 11, 2026) — Pfeiffer University continued its strong start to the season Wednesday, sweeping a neutral-site doubleheader with an 11–1 run-rule victory over King's College (Pa.) and a 4–3 extra-inning win over Pikeville.
Game 1: Pfeiffer 11, King's (Pa.) 1 (5 inn.)
Pfeiffer erupted for
eight runs in the second inning, seizing full control in a dominant offensive showing. Freshman
Heather Vaughn led the attack with a
3-for-4, two-run performance, while catcher
E.A. Nance doubled home two runs as part of the Falcons' early surge.
Sophomore
Mollie Bulla added two hits and a pair of RBIs, and
Charly Cooper drove in two more with a double to left. Pfeiffer finished with
12 hits, stealing six bases and capitalizing on two King's errors.
Freshman starter
Abigail Bowman worked two scoreless innings before the Falcons turned to the bullpen. Reliever
Reese Caranna closed the final frames, allowing one run over 2.1 innings to secure the run-rule victory. King's managed five hits but stranded seven runners.
Game 2: Pfeiffer 4, Pikeville 3 (9 inn.)
In the afternoon matchup, Pfeiffer edged Pikeville in a tight extra-inning finish, winning on an RBI single by
Natalie Auman in the bottom of the ninth. The hit plated pinch-runner
Devon Kelly, securing the Falcons' second walk-off win of the season.
Pfeiffer received steady production throughout its lineup:
Heather Vaughn and
Landry Stewart each collected two hits, while Bulla added a hit and reached base twice. Stewart and Vaughn combined for three stolen bases.
In the circle, Bulla and
Reese Caranna teamed for nine innings, yielding only two earned runs. Caranna earned the win after delivering three scoreless innings in relief. Pikeville pushed the game to extras with a ninth-inning run, but Pfeiffer answered immediately in the home half.

Pfeiffer will have a short turnaround, as they will now head to Atlanta, Ga. to take part in the Emory Eagles Elite Invitational. Pfeiffer will start play against the host Emory Eagles on Friday and will also take on Lewis & Clark College.
