Pfeiffer Softball Gets Sweep in Final Day of Fastpitch Dreams Classic

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 11, 2026) — Pfeiffer University continued its strong start to the season Wednesday, sweeping a neutral-site doubleheader with an 11–1 run-rule victory over King's College (Pa.) and a 4–3 extra-inning win over Pikeville.

Game 1: Pfeiffer 11, King's (Pa.) 1 (5 inn.)

Pfeiffer erupted for eight runs in the second inning, seizing full control in a dominant offensive showing. Freshman Heather Vaughn led the attack with a 3-for-4, two-run performance, while catcher E.A. Nance doubled home two runs as part of the Falcons' early surge.

Sophomore Mollie Bulla added two hits and a pair of RBIs, and Charly Cooper drove in two more with a double to left. Pfeiffer finished with 12 hits, stealing six bases and capitalizing on two King's errors.

Freshman starter Abigail Bowman worked two scoreless innings before the Falcons turned to the bullpen. Reliever Reese Caranna closed the final frames, allowing one run over 2.1 innings to secure the run-rule victory. King's managed five hits but stranded seven runners.

Game 2: Pfeiffer 4, Pikeville 3 (9 inn.)

In the afternoon matchup, Pfeiffer edged Pikeville in a tight extra-inning finish, winning on an RBI single by Natalie Auman in the bottom of the ninth. The hit plated pinch-runner Devon Kelly, securing the Falcons' second walk-off win of the season.

Pfeiffer received steady production throughout its lineup: Heather Vaughn and Landry Stewart each collected two hits, while Bulla added a hit and reached base twice. Stewart and Vaughn combined for three stolen bases.

In the circle, Bulla and Reese Caranna teamed for nine innings, yielding only two earned runs. Caranna earned the win after delivering three scoreless innings in relief. Pikeville pushed the game to extras with a ninth-inning run, but Pfeiffer answered immediately in the home half.
